Mike Tauchman Taking Reps At First Base
4 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Mike Tauchman took reps at first base on Wednesday. Tauchman played first base in college and has indicated a willingness to play the position in the major leagues in the past, so it's no surprise to see him get some work in at the position. Additionally, it makes sense that Tauchman is working to expand his positional versatility after outfielder Jay Bruce's (relative) defensive versatility likely gave Bruce an edge in a spring training roster battle with Tauchman. Manager Aaron Boone has already stated that Tauchman is unlikely to play first in game situations this year, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect Tauchman to gain extra playing time or fantasy eligibility at first base at this point. Still, Tauchman's positional versatility is something to keep an eye on and could boost his fantasy stock at some point.
