2 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (back, ribs) might need at least one more week for his cortisone shot to take effect before he can ramp up his baseball activity. But there remains long-term uncertainty about when he can return while he battles a rare condition called costovertebral dysfunction. Trout is feeling better, but there's no timeline for his return as he deals with rib-cage inflammation that's creating back pain. Head athletic trainer Mike Frostad said it's something that Trout could have to manage "through the rest of his career probably." The 30-year-old went on the injured list on July 18, and with the Angels now well out of playoff contention, there will be no rush to bring him back prematurely. It's definitely not good news for one of the best players in the game.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
