Mike Zunino Enjoys Solid Spring At The Plate
7 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Mike Zunino will head into Opening Day on a nice roll at the plate after hitting .395 in 43 spring at-bats. He hit five home runs, drove in 12 runs and only struck out 11 times. Zunino will be a classic feast-or-famine fantasy gamble after popping 25 home runs and driving in 64 runs last season. Zunino rebounded from a horrendous start to last season that saw him sent to the minors to put up some decent numbers. He still struck out an astounding 160 times in 387 at-bats last season, but his arrow is pointing up heading into 2018. But he certainly will be a case of buyer beware after his stats were propped up by hitting 10 home runs and driving in 31 runs all in the month of June. He will be given every chance to get the lion's share of the playing time behind the plate for the Mariners.
