Mike Zunino Exits Monday’s Game Early
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Mike Zunino (hip) exited Monday's contest against the Orioles early with left hip flexor tightness. He hurt his hip trying to throw Orioles outfielder Ryan Mountcastle out at second base during the bottom of the third inning. The 30-year-old went 0-for-1 before exiting. Zunino was replaced by Francisco Mejia and is considered day-to-day. Mejia would see an uptick in playing while Zunino is sidelined and is a solid option in two-catcher formats. The 25-year-old catcher is slashing .246/.312/.380 over 158 plate appearances in 2021.
