Mike Zunino Hopes DL Stint Lasts Only 10 Days
7 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Mike Zunino hopes his stint on the disabled list will last only 10 days, per seattletimes.com. Zunino has a Grade 1 oblique strain, the most mild grade to give to the injury. Zunino is already getting anxious to get back in the lineup but the Mariners want to treat the injury cautiously,. Outfielder Mitch Haniger suffered a more sever oblique injury last season and it took away months from his season. It's an injury that can nag a hitter all season and certainly can take away their power. If Zunino experiences a setback, expect the Mariners to bring in a free agent catcher like Derek Norris or Geovany Soto. In the meantime, the Mariners will have to make due with catchers Mike Marjama and David Freitas splitting at-bats until Zunino is activated.
