Mikie Mahtook Optioned To Triple-A Toledo
7 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Mikie Mahtook has been off to an abysmal start this season with .129 average and 10 strikeouts on the year. As a result, the Tigers have decided to send him to Toledo to "get his swing together and get his confidence back," manager Ron Gardenhire told reporters. Mahtook had a nice year last season, batting .276 with 12 homers, but that hasn't carried over into the 2018 campaign. In a subsequent move, the Tigers have called up left-hander Chad Bell, as they are in need of a pitcher following Wednesday's injury to Jordan Zimmermann.
