Miles Mikolas Nearly Throws No-Hitter Tuesday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas was one out away from pitching a no-hitter in Tuesday's Game 2 9-1 win over the Pirates. Mikolas had two outs in the ninth inning but allowed a ground-rule double to Cal Mitchell before being removed. His final stat line was 8 2/3 innings pitched with one unearned run allowed on a hit and a walk with six strikeouts. The 33-year-old has gotten off to a strong start this season, going 5-4 with a 2.62 ERA, 66 strikeouts, and 16 walks over 13 starts and 82 1/3 IP. His strikeout performance has never been great, but he has been a useful fantasy pitcher otherwise. His next start may be a bit tougher at the Brewers, but he has pitched well enough to be a decent option.
