Mitch Moreland Homers Twice In First Game Of Doubleheader
4 years agoOakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland went 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBI in a win over the Twins in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. Moreland got the scoring started in the second inning with a two-run shot for his first home run as a member of the A's. Moreland wasn't done there as he'd take Twins starter Matt Shoemaker deep again in the fourth inning with a solo homer. Moreland is off to a slow start, but it's still early; this game alone raised his batting average from .206 to .243. Moreland has a role as the everyday DH in Oakland and was productive last season when he slugged .551 between the Red Sox and Padres. He's a solid option in 15-team leagues and deeper or in those that utilize a corner-infielder.
