3 years agoMajor League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced on Tuesday that the sport will cancel the first two series of the regular season that was originally set to begin on March 31. The move comes over a labor dispute between the league and players for the first time in 27 years. The league and union haven't made plans for future negotiations and players won't be paid for missed games. On the ninth straight day of negotiations, the players rejected MLB's "best and final offer." Union chief Tony Clark said the players "remain committed to the bargaining process and getting back on the field as soon as possible." The union will push for canceled games to be rescheduled when talks resume, but it's unknown when talks will actually resume. It's a sad day for baseball, indeed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
