Moises Gomez Promoted To Triple-A
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfield prospect Moises Gomez has been promoted from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis. The team's No. 28 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was released by the Tampa Bay Rays last October, but he's broken out to the tune of a .321/.401/.705 slash line with a 1.106 OPS, 23 home runs, 54 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 60 games for Springfield to earn the minor league promotion. On the negative side, the 23-year-old right-handed hitter has struck out 90 times in 257 plate appearances, and his swinging-strike rate will continue to be something that could limit his production at Triple-A and the majors. Gomez sells out a lot to get to his power, so it's unlikely he'll be a big batting average commodity if he makes it to St. Louis, but the raw power is obviously real.
