Mookie Betts Scores Twice, Steals A Bag Despite Hitless Effort
6 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts recorded three walks in an 0-for-2 night as the team fell 8-7 to the Blue Jays. He came around to score in the second inning and stole a base in the ninth before Xander Bogaerts cashed him in on a double getting the Sox within a run. Despite a down year batting just .264, Betts remains tied atop the AL in runs with 61 while holding a walk rate (16.4% BB%) higher than his strikeout rate (14.4% K%). His 12 homers and nine steals have him on pace for a fourth consecutive 20/20 season, and he remains a top-tier outfielder even with the decrease in production from his 2018 MVP campaign.
