Mychal Givens Picks Up First Save Thursday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds reliever Mychal Givens earned his first save of the season in Thursday's 7-4 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Givens became the 10th Red to record a save this year, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Enquirer. He was acquired on July 28 from the Colorado Rockies and has appeared in five games so far for Cincinnati, picking up three holds. Givens has put up nice numbers overall with 11 holds, a 2.34 ERA, 38 K, 17 BB, and five HRs allowed over 34.2 innings. The Reds bullpen has been a mess all year and they haven't been able to find a steady closer with both Amir Garrett and Lucas Sims struggling. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Givens get a few more saves this season, and he can be an option in deep leagues and leagues that count holds.
