Mychal Givens Picks Up Third Save
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Mychal Givens got the final four outs of a 7-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. Givens struck out two and walked one on the way to earning his third save of the season. The veteran reliever has been lights-out since the Reds acquired him from the Colorado Rockies at the trade deadline, throwing 8 1/3 scoreless innings while racking up eight strikeouts for his new team. Overall, he has a 3-2 record, 2.13 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, three saves, and 42 strikeouts over 38 innings of work. The Reds have been mixing and matching closers throughout the season but Givens appears to have emerged as the favored ninth-inning option of late.
