4 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman/designated hitter Nate Lowe will man first base and bat ninth Wednesday against the Yankees and left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery, thereby making his first appearance of 2020. Lowe showed some considerable pop last year, collecting 15 extra-base hits in 50 games while reeling off a 107 OPS+. Tampa Bay has a crowded corner infield/DH situation, but Yandy Diaz (hamstring) landing on the IL paved the way for Lowe to get the big league callup. How regular his at-bats will be will determine his season-long viability moving forward.--Jesse Borek
