Nathan Eovaldi Implodes In The Fifth Inning
3 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi had a disaster fifth inning Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, giving up seven earned runs in that frame. His first four frames had been uneventful, with zeroes in each one. He finished with eight hits and two walks allowed and four strikeouts. Eovaldi's record drops to 9-7 with this loss, and his ERA rises yet again to 4.07. Before his last two starts, it had sat at a much stronger 3.49. Despite Eovaldi's strong overall season, it's hard to trust him at this point. He belongs on benches until he turns in a better outing.
