Nationals Say They Won't Look To Dump A Bad Contract
2 years agoWashington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said "we're not going to dilute the return for any player by including a bad contract," when he was asked about the team throwing left-hander Patrick Corbin's bloated contract into another deal at this year's trade deadline. Reports have surfaced in the last week that Washington wants to offload Corbin's contract in any blockbuster deal involving superstar outfielder Juan Soto. Corbin has been downright bad in 2022, going 4-13 with a 6.02 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP with 98 strikeouts and 36 walks in 104 2/3 innings over 20 starts. He's allowed a league-high 142 hits and 70 earned runs, and he's also allowed at least four runs in each of his last three starts.
