Nats Fear Stephen Strasburg Has A Familiar Injury
2 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (ribs) is having a recurrence of thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms following his season debut for the team. The Nationals only announced that he felt some pain after a bullpen session, and while there isn't an official diagnosis, the fear is that it's the same issue. Strasburg had surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome last summer, and while his velocity was down in his only outing, there were some good signs despite allowing seven earned runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Marlins. Pitchers returning from thoracic outlet surgery have been hit-or-miss, and Strasburg is now 1-4 with a 6.89 ERA since signing a $245 million, seven-year deal after winning World Series MVP in 2019.
