6 years agoSeattle Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz is really beginning to heat up with three home runs and 10 runs batted in over his last eight games. Cruz is 12-for-32 (.375) during this eight-game stretch and has brought his average up from .225 to .251 within the span of just over a week. It was only a matter of time before a premier slugger of Cruz' caliber would begin producing and it is coming at the right time for the Mariners. Robinson Cano is suspended until August and younger hitters like Ryon Healy and Mitch Haniger have cooled off a touch over the past few weeks. Cruz has an excellent matchup Saturday night against the Rays Chris Archer. Cruz is 6-for-17 (.353) lifetime against Archer with one double and one home run.--Joey C - RotoBaller
