Nelson Cruz Homers In Rays Debut
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and an additional run scored in Friday's win over Cleveland. He took Zach Plesac deep in the third inning for his 20th long ball of the season. Cruz was traded from the Twins to the Rays on Thursday in exchange for Joe Ryan and Drew Strotman. He will serve as the team's primary designated hitter. The 41-year-old continues to show no signs of slowing down, slashing .293/.371/.543 with 20 home runs, 51 RBI, and 46 runs scored across 348 plate appearances in 2021.
