7 years agoThe Seattle Mariners placed outfielder/designated hitter Nelson Cruz (ankle) on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to April 1) with a sprained right ankle on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the team recalled infielder/outfielder Taylor Motter from Triple-A Tacoma. With the Mariners playing several games in a National League park this week against the Giants, it makes sense to rest Cruz now, but his injury doesn't seem to be too serious, so he could return to the lineup sometime next week. Cruz boasts big power, but at his age his body may not cooperate through a full season. Therein lies his fantasy risk. Motter is more of a super-utility player, and first baseman Daniel Vogelbach will likely benefit the most from Cruz's absence.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
