Nelson Cruz Posts Two Hits Against Yankees
7 years agoSeattle Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 2-for-4, including a double, in the Mariners 4-3 loss to the Yankees. Cruz now has hits in each of his last five games with three extra-base hits in that span. The veteran slugger has enjoyed a solid month of June, hitting .268 with two doubles, eight home runs and 14 runs batted in through 67 at-bats. He is now slugging .531 on the season with 18 home runs and more production may be on the way. Cruz is posting a BABIP of only .239, far below league average. His track record and better luck portend that Cruz is in line for even more production heading towards the All-Star break.
