Nelson Cruz Remains Twins Top Choice At DH
4 years agoFree-agent designated hitter Nelson Cruz does not have a contract with spring training just two weeks away from starting. A reunion with the Minnesota Twins continues to be the obvious choice for both sides, and it appears that the unsettled nature of the universal DH is throwing Cruz's market into flux. Cruz continued to mash last season to the tune of a .992 OPS that placed him sixth in American League MVP voting, so he'll be a relevant season-long bat no matter where he lands. Having cranked an average of 41 home runs from 2014-19, Cruz isn't likely to open the season still on the market, although delayed spring starts have proven to be a disadvantage for some veteran hitters in the past. Should Cruz go elsewhere, Marcell Ozuna remains an option for the Twins, who seem likely to dip into the free-agent market once more.
