New York Scratches Dominic Smith From Wednesday’s Lineup
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Dominic Smith (wrist) was removed from Wednesday's starting nine in Grapefruit League play due to what Mets manager Luis Rojas described as "general wrist soreness." Mallex Smith entered the lineup in his place. Smith is expected to serve as New York's primary left fielder to begin the season, having socked two home runs during camp, while also striking out in eight of his 22 at-bats. A breakout 2020 campaign has skyrocketed Smith up draft boards for the upcoming year, as he slashed .316/.377/.616 with 32 extra-base hits in 50 games. Currently listed with a 114 ADP, Smith's upside due to his power is evident. The injury does not seem to be a long-term concern at this stage as Smith was able to take defensive reps earlier in the day.
