6 years agoWashington Capitals center Nic Dowd provided the game-winning goal on Thursday night against Carolina, which secured the defending Stanley Cup champs a postseason berth. Brett Connolly and Jakub Vrana also got on the score sheet in a 3-2 win. Dowd has had a good season as a fourth-liner, recording 21 points which is just one shy of his career-high. He's made some big plays throughout the month on March, collecting five points and registering a plus-five rating.
