Nick Madrigal Progresses Toward Opening Day
4 years agoChicago White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal (shoulder) made his Cactus League debut Monday, going 0-for-2 versus the Dodgers. But that's not the story. Madrigal said afterward that he was "ahead of schedule" in his return from October shoulder surgery. With that in mind, combined with the fact that Madrigal has already returned to game action, fantasy managers can operate as if he'll be holding down the keystone for Chicago come April 1. During his first taste of big league action in 2020, Madrigal was a hitting dynamo -- albeit, mostly a singles one. With 32 of his 35 hits being of the one-base variety, his .340 average left something to be desired for many managers. But with the White Sox boasting a loaded lineup in '21, a healthy Madrigal should serve, at minimum, as a strong source of BA and runs scored.
