Nick Madrigal Undergoes Season-Ending Surgery
4 years agoThe Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday that second baseman Nick Madrigal (hamstring) will miss the remainder of the 2021 season. Madrigal successfully underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the proximal tendon tears in his right hamstring. The second baseman is expected to be held with no restrictions by the spring of 2022. Madrigal had a good sophomore campaign and will finish the year with a .305 batting average to go along with two home runs and 21 RBI. With Madrigal out for the season, the immediate replacements will be infielder/outfielder Leury Garcia and infielder Danny Mendick, but the White Sox could also acquire a second baseman outside of the organization. Both Garcia and Mendick could remain on the waiver wire for now.
