4 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis has landed on the COVID-19 injured list due to a possible exposure to the virus, although he has tested negative. The club called up top prospect Cristian Pache prior to Tuesday’s game, and he figures to take over for Markakis as long as he is sidelined. After having initially opted out of the 2020 year due to concerns over the pandemic, Markakis has begun the year hitting at a torrid rate with a .353/.421/.618 slash line across his first 11 contests. It’s important to note that he has not been placed on the mandatory 10-day IL, so he could return shortly should he be cleared.--Jesse Borek
