4 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis will man right field and bat fifth during Thursday’s matchup against Blue Jays right-hander Nate Pearson. Markakis, who had initially planned to sit out the 2020 year due to COVID-19 concerns, forces Ender Inciarte to the bench and Marcell Ozuna to the designated hitter spot. Having recorded an out in his debut Wednesday, Markakis is back in the lineup against a righty, which bodes better based on last season’s splits (.816 OPS vs. RHP, .653 vs. LHP). A staple of consistency throughout his career, Markakis offers a solid waiver wire grab for those owners who are in a position to add his bat to the mix.--Jesse Borek
