4 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis has chosen to opt back into the 2020 year, having reversed course from his previous decision to sit out the year due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Just how quickly Markakis is able to re-enter the Atlanta lineup remains to be seen, but he will presumably head to the team’s alternate training site to ramp up for game action as soon as possible. While Atlanta had attempted to sign veteran Yasiel Puig to fill the gap in the lineup, he tested positive for COVID-19, leaving the team to utilize other options. Markakis, who batted .285 last year and was an All-Star as recently as 2018, will make an already formidable Atlanta lineup even more dangerous.--Jesse Borek
