3 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Nick Neidert was called up to make Tuesday's start against the New York Mets and ended up earning his first win of the season. Neidert pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five. Neidert walked a tightrope all evening, as he was struggling with his control, throwing 43 of his 74 pitches for strikes. His slider movement was on point though, allowing him to get away with missing most of his spots with his fastball. Neidert evened his record at 1-1 and lowered his ERA to 4.11. His future seems to be as a swingman or long relief bullpen arm, but the Marlins could keep giving him starts just to see what they have in him.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
