6 years agoWashington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom posted an assist with a plus-one rating in Tuesday's 4-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils, giving him 50 for the season. The Swedish pivot is the only player in the National Hockey League to post 50 or more helpers in each of the past six seasons. After a chilly February, Backstrom has posted five goals with 12 points and a plus-3 rating across the past 11 outings. He'll look to keep it cooking on Wednesday night against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning.--Daniel Dobish
