4 years agoChicago Cubs infielder Nico Hoerner (forearm) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday to face the Detroit Tigers. Hoerner has been sidelined since May 4 with a left forearm strain. Hoerner suffered the injury after colliding with teammate Ian Happ. Hoerner was called up on April 22 and has been off to a nice start since his arrival. The versatile infielder is hitting .389 with seven RBI and has entrenched himself in the everyday lineup for the Cubs. Hoerner's return means less playing time for guys like infielders David Bote and Eric Sogard. Although he doesn't offer much power, Hoerner is a serviceable infielder in deeper leagues. He will play second base and bat eighth versus Tarik Skubal. Outfielder Nick Martini has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room for Hoerner on the roster.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
