Nico Hoerner Aiming To Return This Weekend
4 years agoChicago Cubs infielder Nico Hoerner (forearm) has been hitting and going through infield work with the hope to be activated from the 10-day injured list this weekend. Hoerner hurt his forearm when he collided with outfielder Ian Happ against the Cincinnati Reds on May 2. Hoerner initially finished that game, but was placed on the injured list shortly after. Hoerner has been off to an impressive start this year as the Cubs second baseman. Since being called up on April 22, Hoerner has been an everyday player and produced a .389 batting average to go along with seven RBI and three stolen bases in 36 at-bats. Hoerner doesn't offer much power, but is a fine option at second base for managers seeking hits and speed. Infielders David Bote and Eric Sogard will continue to operate at second base with Hoerner sidelined and neither offers much to fantasy managers.
