Nico Hoerner Won't Start On Monday
4 years agoChicago Cubs middle infielder Nico Hoerner will be absent from the Cubs starting lineup on Monday versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hoerner made his season debut on April 22 and has been off to an impressive start. Hoerner has started 10 consecutive games primarily at second base and shortstop with some run in the outfield during that span. He is hitting the ball at a .389 batting average and has driven in seven runs and swiped three stolen bases. With outfielder Joc Pederson returning to the lineup on Monday, the lineup card could be tricky, but Hoerner has clearly played above his competition at second base of David Bote and Eric Sogard. Hoerner should continue see most of the opportunity at second base and managers should continue to ride him while he's hot. Second baseman David Bote will get the start over Hoerner on Monday and bat seventh. Bote can be ignored versus Walker Buehler in DFS on Monday.
