Niko Goodrum Begins Rehab Assignment Saturday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers infielder Niko Goodrum (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Saturday. He was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left index finger. The 29-year-old is trending in the right direction towards returning to the Tigers. Goodrum is slashing .216/.297/.330 with five homers, 17 RBI, 27 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases across 219 plate appearances in 2021. He doesn't provide much in other categories, but his 12 stolen bases keep him on the fantasy radar in standard rotisserie leagues. Zack Short will continue to handle shortstop duties while Goodrum is sidelined. Short is a speculative add in deep-league formats, slashing .308/.486/.500 with one homer, four RBI, 10 walks, and five runs scored over 11 games this season.
