Niko Goodrum Takes Batting Practice On Field
3 years agoDetroit Tigers utility player Niko Goodrum (calf) took batting practice on the field on Wednesday and could join Triple-A Toledo for a rehab assignment later this week or next week, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. Goodrum landed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf contusion on Saturday after being scratched from the lineup due to what was initially announced as left calf tightness. He's been a serviceable option in deeper formats this season, as he was slashing .220/.296/.341 with six home runs, 12 steals, 18 RBI and 28 runs scored over 63 games prior to the injury. However, he's been relegated to a bench bat for Detroit over the past month, so any value he might have had has more or less dried up at this point.
