4 years agoOn Monday, New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor stated that he was excited to start spring training with his new ballclub. 2021 will be Lindor's first season with the Mets after a blockbuster trade that sent him and pitcher Carlos Carrasco from Cleveland to New York. This will also be Lindor's last season before he's due to become a free agent. Lindor advised on Monday that he has not yet had any discussions with the Mets about a long-term contract extension. He reiterated his position that if he does not finalize an extension with the Mets before the start of the regular season, he does not wish to pursue such discussions into the season. Lindor, a four-time All-Star, has previously said that he is not opposed to a long-term contract. The 27-year-old hit .258 with eight home runs, 27 RBI, and a .750 OPS in 60 games in his final season with the Indians in 2020. He will remain an elite fantasy shortstop in New York in 2021.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
