7 years agoIn most fantasy baseball drafts this past spring, New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard was drafted as either the fifth or sixth starting pitcher off the board, kicking off the second tier of pitchers after Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Chris Sale and Corey Kluber. Thus far in 2018, it’s fair to say he’s been pretty good, but certainly not near the ace-type level owners were expecting at that draft price. Syndergaard once again wasn’t at his best in a losing effort Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits and a walk across six innings pitched. He only struck out three, a season low for Thor. For the year, he owns a very solid 3.10 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 49 strikeouts across 40 2/3 innings pitched. Those numbers are pretty good no matter who you ask, but at least from an ERA perspective, it’s not what fantasy owners thought they’d be getting this season. There remains a good chance Syndergaard heats up as the weather does.--John Smith
