6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard has been out since May 25 due to a strained ligament in his right index finger, but he was feeling well enough on Monday to play catch for the first time in nearly two weeks. If you recall, Syndergaard was supposed to return a little over a week ago but was pushed back due to extended swelling in the finger. It does not sound as though there were any complications from Monday’s effort, so that’s obviously a great sign. Once Thor is ready to go, he’ll need “at least one” rehab start, according to Mets pitching coach Dave Eiland. That could come in a matter of days, depending on how his finger continues to react.--John Smith
