6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) continues to inch closer to a return to the big leagues, and the next step in his recovery will be a rehab start for the Low-A Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday. Dealing with a strained ligament in his right index finger, Thor has been on the shelf since May 26. He threw 50 pitches in a simulated game on Tuesday and evidently feels well enough to kick things up a notch this weekend. Assuming the rehab start goes well, one would assume Syndergaard could return to the rotation at some point late next week. With the Mets, though, nothing is ever a given.--John Smith
