Nolan Arenado Gets First Day Off Of 2020 Sunday
4 years agoColorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado played every inning of every game across his club’s first 14 contests of 2020, but he’ll get his first rest of the year Sunday against the Mariners and left-hander Justus Sheffield. Manager Bud Black wanted to give Arenado a day off after noting that he looked “a little overaggressive” at the plate, having gone 0-for-13 over his last three contests. Chris Owings will man the hot corner in Arenado’s stead, while Matt Kemp moves up into the cleanup spot and becomes a DFS candidate. Arenado will likely return to the starting nine Monday against the D-backs and southpaw Robbie Ray, whom he has produced a 1.160 OPS against in 41 career at-bats.
