2 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals placed third baseman Nolan Arenado on the paternity list on Friday and recalled infielder/outfielder Juan Yepez from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. The Cardinals also activated closer Ryan Helsley from the restricted list and optioned left-hander Packy Naughton to Memphis. Arenado didn't play on Thursday after leaving to be with his pregnant wife, so it's not a surprise he's on the paternity list a day later. He could miss the entire three-game series this weekend against the Atlanta Braves. Brendan Donovan is starting at third and hitting second on Friday against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Donovan has very little power (two homers), but he's nearly hitting .300 with 34 RBI and 39 runs scored in 275 at-bats for the Cards this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
