Norv Turner A Candidate For Carolina's Offensive Coordinator Position
7 years agoNorv Turner could be at the top of the list to become the Carolina Panthers' next offensive coordinator after the team fired Mike Shula on Tuesday. Turner hired Panthers head coach Ron Rivera as an assistant while with the San Diego Chargers, and Rivera is known to hire assistants that he's worked with before. Turner has two brothers that are currently on the Panthers staff, too. If Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks gets the head coaching job with the Giants, Turner could be a candidate as the offensive coordinator there. Turner is known for his high-flying offenses that prefer to push the ball downfield and spread out the defense. Quarterback Cam Newton certainly has the arm to accomplish that, and speedy receivers Kaelin Clay and Curtis Samuel can easily stretch the field. But for Carolina's passing offense to improve, they'll likely need to add more proven playmakers to the fold.
