7 years agoCarolina Panthers offensive coordinator Norv Turner said he won't stop quarterback Cam Newton from running in 2018. "I think that's a real threat to defenses. Defenses, they're really bothered by that. He's always got to have that as part of his game. He's always got to have the threat to run. Depending on who we're playing, how we're playing and things that are going, I think it's always going to be a part of what we do," Turner said. As a passer in 2017, Newton got off to a really slow start after offseason surgery, but he was incredibly inconsistent throughout the year. The thing that saved him in fantasy owners' eyes were his legs, as he set a career high with 754 rushing yards. Turner hinted that he'll work to improve Newton mechanically, but expect the big QB to continue scrambling and making big plays with his legs when he needs to. If Carolina can get the vertical passing game going under Turner, Newton could have an even bigger year in 2018.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
