Odubel Herrera Settling Into Center Field Role
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera has started three straight games in center field as the team continues its search for production at the position. As a group, Phillies center fielders are batting .176, the second-worst mark in baseball. They also rank in the bottom three in on-base percentage (28th), OPS (29th) and wRC+ (29th) as none of Scott Kingery Adam Haseley, Roman Quinn, Mickey Moniak or Herrera have been able to produce this year. Herrera is the latest to get consistent playing time, as he started all three games of the most recent series in Washington, collecting five hits in the series. That should be enough to keep him in the lineup for a series against the Blue Jays in Dunedin, an excellent hitter's park. Herrera is a decent addition for those looking for outfield help this weekend.
