Oscar Gonzalez Placed On Injured List
2 years agoThe Cleveland Guardians placed rookie outfielder Oscar Gonzalez (intercostal) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. In corresponding moves, the team recalled infielder Gabriel Arias from Triple-A, recalled left-hander Kirk McCarty from Triple-A, activated right-hander James Karinchak from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A and designated right-hander Tobias Myers for assignment. With Gonzalez sidelined for at least the next 10 days, Ernie Clement and Richie Palacios should see some more playing time in the outfield. In his first 32 big-league games, Gonzalez was hitting a strong .285/.315/.431 with two home runs and 14 RBI. McCarty will make the spot start in Game 1 of the team's doubleheader on Saturday against the New York Yankees.
