Pablo Lopez Leaves After He Is Hit By Line Drive
3 years agoMiami Marlins right-hander Pablo Lopez left his Friday start after he was hit on the right wrist by a line drive. Lopez threw 4 1/3 innings of two-run ball, striking out five and walking two before he was struck by a 100.5 MPH liner off the bat of Michael Brantley. After the play, Lopez threw one warmup pitch and it appeared that he was trying to stay in the game, but the Marlins replaced him with reliever Richard Bleier. The team is calling the move precautionary as Lopez has some swelling around the area. Look for Miami to update his status later on Friday after the game concludes. Lopez has a 4-2 record, 2.30 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 72 strikeouts over 70 1/3 innings of work in 2022. Any stretch of missed starts from Lopez would be an issue for both the Marlins and those who are rostering him in fantasy.
