Packers Officially Use Franchise Tag On Davante Adams
3 years agoThe Green Bay Packers officially placed the franchise tag on wide receiver Davante Adams on Tuesday, according to a source. This was always the expected move, whether or not quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned to the team in 2022. Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that the team and Rodgers agreed to a four-year, $200 million contract extension. Even if the Packers don't work out a long-term contract extension with Adams by this summer, both he and Rodgers will return to the offense in 2022. The Rodgers-Adams connection is arguably the best QB-WR combination in the NFL. Adams, 29, had career-highs in catches (123), targets (169) and receiving yards (1,553) while scoring 11 touchdowns in 16 regular season games in 2021. The five-time Pro Bowler has a whopping 29 touchdowns in the last two seasons.
