7 years agoJon Heyman of FanRag Sports indicates through sources the San Diego Padres have internally discussed free-agent starting pitcher Jake Arrieta. This flies in the face of an ESPN article that identified San Diego was "not gonna happen" as Arrieta's landing spot. With a fairly weak and inexperienced starting rotation, the Padres could conceivably offer Arrieta a number and hope he takes the San Diego discount. However, Arrieta appears in no rush to sign for less than what he feels entitled. It's not surprising to speculate on decorated free agents this close to Opening Day, but this report feels more like rumor than news.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
