6 years agoThe San Diego Padres fired hitting coach Matt Stairs on Tuesday. The Padres will be searching for their 10th hitting coach in 15 years after another terrible season at the dish. The Padres were last in on-base percentage (.297), tied for second-to-last in average (.235) and struck out 9.4 times per game. Whether the Friars opt to look in-house at their hitting coaches in the minors or elsewhere, the next coach will be responsible for reviving veteran Padres after disappointing seasons and mentoring a crop of young players transitioning to the big leagues.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
